学校で教わった英語に従うと、「はじめよう」はLet’s start.のはずなのに、Let’s get started.っていう表現も聞いたりします。
どっちの英語も文法的には正解なんですが、ネイティブがよく使うのは・・・?

ネイティブの友人に、Let’s start.とLet’s get stared.の違いを聞いてみました。

Let’s start.も正解だけど、Let’s get started.のほうがよく使うよ。同じような表現だと、Let’s go.も同じ意味で、Let’s get going.も言うよ。

あらためて、Let’s start.とLet’s get stared.を文法的に分析してみたいと思います。
Let’s start.
Let’s start. =Let us start. (わたしたちにはじめさせてください)から来ています。
主役は”わたしたち”であり、”わたしたち”がはじめるという能動的な意味合いになります。
Let’s get started.
Let’s get (it) started.=Let us get (it) started.です。
getは「~の状態にする、~にさせる」という使い方ができるので、これはつまり「わたしたちにそれをはじめた状態にさせてください」という意味合いになります。(←ややこしい日本語になってしまってすみません・汗)
この文の主役(×主語)は”それ”である、というところがポイントです。
無生物(”それ”)が主語なので、感情の入りようがなく、非常にニュートラルな、人間の思いに左右されない英文になります。ネイティブたちが話している、「Let’s get started.のほうがぼちぼちな感じ」っていうのはこのあたりからきているのかもしれません。
Let’s start.のほうが能動的=やらなきゃ!!!みたいな感じっていうのもなんとなく納得。
まとめ
学校で教わった英語となにか違うなって思ったら、その違いにこだわってみると、英語がぐんとこなれる。
